Welcome to Lawyers' Guide ("we," "our," or "us"), developed and maintained by Lumos Global Studio. We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application ("Lawyers' Guide" or the "App") and our website at lumosstudio.netlify.app (the "Website").

By using our App or Website, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use our services.

2. About Our App

Lawyers' Guide is an offline legal reference application designed for Nigerian lawyers, law students, and legal professionals. The App provides access to:

• Nigerian legal cases (Supreme Court & Court of Appeal)
• Legal principles
• Laws of the Federation of Nigeria (LFN)
• Court rules for all Nigerian States and Federal courts
• Legal drafts and templates
• Legal Diary for task management

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Information Stored Locally on Your Device

The following information is stored locally on your device and is NOT transmitted to our servers:

• Legal Diary entries: Court dates, deadlines, appointments, and reminders you create
• Favorites: Cases, laws, and principles you bookmark
• Notes: Personal annotations you add to content
• Reading History: Content you have viewed
• App preferences: Dark mode settings, font sizes, and other customizations

This data remains on your device unless you choose to uninstall the App or clear its data manually.

3.2 Information Collected Through Google Play

When you download our App or make a purchase, Google Play may collect:

• Device information (model, OS version)
• Purchase and transaction information
• App crash reports and diagnostics

This collection is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

3.3 Advertising and Your Advertising ID

Some of our apps are supported by advertising, served through Google AdMob (the Google Mobile Ads SDK). Where an app shows ads, the following is collected from your device and shared with Google:

• Advertising ID and other device identifiers: A resettable identifier Google uses to select and measure ads and to detect invalid or fraudulent ad activity.
• Approximate location: Derived from your IP address, so that ads are relevant to your country or region. We do not collect precise or GPS location.
• Ad interaction data: Whether an ad was shown, viewed, or tapped.

This information is collected by Google, not by us - we never receive your advertising ID, and we do not build profiles of individual users. Google's handling of it is governed by How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Your choices. You can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in your device's Settings, under Privacy → Ads. Deleting it stops personalised advertising altogether. Where an app shows a privacy options screen (found in the app's Settings), you can also change or withdraw your advertising consent there at any time. In apps that offer it, a one-time Remove Ads purchase stops ads being served, and with them this collection.

Our apps are directed at legal practitioners, students and adults. We do not knowingly serve personalised advertising to children, and ad content is restricted to a general audience rating.

3.4 Information You Provide Voluntarily

We may collect information you voluntarily provide when you:

• Contact us: Name, email address, and message content when you submit feedback or support requests
• Subscribe to updates: Email address if you sign up for iOS release notifications
• Request support: Information necessary to resolve your inquiry

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the limited information we collect to:

• Respond to your inquiries and support requests
• Send you notifications about iOS app release (if subscribed)
• Improve our App based on feedback and crash reports
• Process and verify premium purchases
• Serve and measure advertising in our ad-supported apps, and detect invalid or fraudulent ad activity
• Comply with legal obligations
• Protect against fraudulent or unauthorized activity

5. Information Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

• Service Providers: We use Web3Forms to process feedback submissions. They process data according to their privacy policy.
• Google Play: Purchase transactions are processed through Google Play's payment system.
• Google AdMob: In apps supported by advertising, your device's advertising ID, approximate (IP-derived) location and ad interaction data are shared with Google to serve and measure ads and to prevent ad fraud. See section 3.3.
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
• Business Transfers: If Lumos Global Studio is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
• With Your Consent: We may share information for other purposes with your explicit consent.

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your information:

• Local Storage: Data stored on your device is protected by your device's security features (PIN, fingerprint, encryption)
• Secure Communications: All communications with our website use HTTPS encryption
• Minimal Data Collection: We follow the principle of data minimization - we only collect what is necessary

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Data Retention

• Local Data: Data stored on your device (favorites, notes, diary entries) remains until you delete it or uninstall the App
• Feedback & Support: We retain feedback and support communications for up to 2 years to improve our services
• Email Subscriptions: We retain your email until you unsubscribe or request deletion
• Purchase Records: Transaction records are retained as required for accounting and legal purposes

8. Your Privacy Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal information:

• Access: Request a copy of any personal information we hold about you
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate information
• Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information from our systems
• Opt-Out: Unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time
• Data Portability: Request your data in a portable format
• Withdraw Consent: Withdraw any consent you have previously given

9. Managing Your Local Data

Since most data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it:

• Delete individual items: Remove specific favorites, notes, or diary entries within the App
• Clear all data: Go to your device's Settings → Apps → Lawyers' Guide → Clear Data
• Uninstall: Removing the App deletes all locally stored data

10. Third-Party Services

Our App and Website may use or link to third-party services:

• Google Play Store: For app distribution and payments - Privacy Policy
• Web3Forms: For processing feedback submissions - Privacy Policy
• Vercel: For website hosting and privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics - Privacy Policy

We use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to understand how our Website is used and how quickly it loads. These services do not use cookies, do not track you across other websites, and do not collect information that identifies you personally. They record aggregated data such as page views, referring sites, country, device type, and page performance.

We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these third-party services.

11. Children's Privacy

Lawyers' Guide is designed for legal professionals and law students. Our services are not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately at lawyersguideng@gmail.com and we will promptly delete it.

Lumos Global Studio is based in Nigeria. If you are accessing our services from outside Nigeria, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in Nigeria. By using our services, you consent to this transfer. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
